This article highlights the work of analytical chemist Dr. Yeru Huang and colleagues at one of China’s premier research centers (National Research Center for Environmental Analysis and Measurement). Collaborating with the United Nations. Dr. Huang’s activities, supported by Shimadzu Corporation, are at the forefront of research on POPs.

Quantitation of Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2 and Ochratoxin A in Cannabis Using Integrated HPLC with a Fluorescence Detector

Due to the high level of matrix complexity of cannabis products, mycotoxin testing in cannabis is very challenging. This study by Shimadzu focuses on developing a powerful detection method using an Integrated HPLC system that allows cannabis testing labs to confidently report concentrations below regulatory limits – Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 combined to 20 ppb and 20 ppb for Ochratoxin A alone.

How “Clean” Does My GC Tubing Need to Be?

cg_tubing_aluminumUsing clean, high-quality tubing is essential when setting up a new GC or when replumbing an existing gas delivery system, especially for carrier and detector gases.
“Clean” tubing often only means that it has been processed according to ASTM B280 or CGA G-4.1. However, in our experience, tubing prepared by these methods alone is not clean enough for chromatography applications. Residual drawing oils and other manufacturing artifacts may still be present and can easily contaminate an instrument after installation.
